UMP Summer Nationals sizzles in Springfield July 23

Springfield Raceway owner Jerry Hoffman is proud to announce that the popular UMP Summer Nationals will be heading to the quick quarter of the Springfield Raceway ‪on Thursday evening, July 23, with the event being presented by Greenlawn Funeral Home.

After getting the first phase of the popular open Late Model Tour started in early July, The best in the Midwest with be getting a three-day break after racing in 12 of 13 straight days.

This means a three-day break before heading to the high-banked quarter-mile oval. The racing never disappoints as the Hell Tour marks the first time in history to head this far west. Drivers get a chance to refresh after competing in Quincy, Ill.

GreenLawn Funeral Homes Director and President Jake Diemer was all excited about the Tour coming to his hometown and wasted no time in steeping up to be part of this historic event.

Diemer, a former Late Model racer himself started his career in Mini Stocks and quickly moved up to Late Model racing and was always in contention for the win with several victories under his belt.

He also competed in the heyday of asphalt racing at Springfield running with the likes of Larry Phillips, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace and others before competing every weekend on the dirt tracks.

Also competing on the special ‪Thursday night‬ event will be USRA B-Mods in a $ 500-to-win event along with USRA national points being awarded and the popular area Midwest Modz battling for $300 to win.

Grandstand adult admission prices will be $25 for this very special event with kids prices $10. Adult pit passes will be $40.

Don't miss this event as Springfield is known for the door-to-door racing action as the local area top Late Model drivers will be gearing up for the invasion of the traveling pros.
