Dalton Doubles Down In USRA Out Pace B Modified Springfield Quick-Quarter Double Header
Defending Springfield Raceway Out-Pace USRA B-Mod track champion and Current Speedway point leader Jackie Dalton of Carthage pulled off The Double-header features for the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods presented by Reliable Chevrolet by having to pass current Out-Pace USRA B-Mod National point leader Sam Petty to grab the double feature night at The "Quick-Quarter" of the Springfield Raceway Saturday Night in another action packed night.
In the 1st feature, a make-up event for a rain out 2 weeks ago, Dalton started the feature from the 6th starting spot and had to rundown leader Sam Petty after some great 3 wide action all over the 1/4 mile high-banked oval using a late race caution in taking the lead with only 3 laps remaining as veteran Wes Long, Phillip Caddy and front runner James Thompson completed a tough top 5 finish. Front Runner and 1 time winner this season Justin Comer lost a motor while running in the top 5 and contending. With 5 of the scheduled drivers for this feature were absent, track officials back to readjust the starting line-up to make it right for all involved.
In the 2nd feature, it was almost like seeing the repeat as Dalton and Petty showed the fast way around as it was Steton Johnson who set the early pace after a 10 car inversion set the field with Danny Martin and Johnson bringing the field down for the 20 lap feature. An early red flag slowed and halted the action as Cody Rider rode over the turn 3 banking stopping the action. When the green flew again, Petty had to wait a couple of laps before grabbing the lead as Dalton started his charge running right on the edge of the extreme top groove to take the lead from Petty taking his 2nd win of the season and night with Petty, James Thompson, Levi Phillips and Johnston the top 5.
