SEASON OPENER ….its time….
This Saturday April 5, 2025 Springfield Raceway will be Celebrating 18 Years of Dirt Track Racing under the same Ownership .

Ol time Local Racer , Car Owner & Race Fan Dean Hoover told me that my Ol Dirt Track opened in 1964 & was promoted by a ol boy named Bob Brown & was first known as
Airport Speedway. Dean went on to say his “ 56 Chevy #16 was driven by Roy Payne from Pleasant Hope Mo. Won the first A Main by 53’ at the finish line over Joe Tindles 53 Buick. Dean says there are a lot of memories from back then & it is great to see what Springfield Raceway has turned into today…“

Time...time....Time....time...as we get older, time...seems to move a little faster...I think we think about time... in a different way as we age......time...seems a little more valuable as we age ….as time...keeps ticking , each & everyone of us get a little bit older...time... keeps spinning.. time will get away …& we look away & it’s our end of time….. tha things we wish we would have done & the places we wish we would have went ….. & tha things we wish we would of said to someone before their time here is gone …..
We all will have a family member pass away or lose a loved one close to us & might even lose a ol friend....so as that time...keeps spinning we need to cherish each moment...& don't let time get away......

Each year we kick off our Racing Season at Springfield Raceway by honoring a friend. Don Haase, October 1, 1962 - April 8, 2008. Don passed young, he was 46. Springfield Raceway track owner Jerry Hoffman & Don had previously worked together back in the mid 90's. Don was the type of guy who could fix anything, he was one heck of a Mechanic. He loved all sports & just being outside. When the raceway was bought back in 2007 a Tech Man was needed. Jerry thought Don would be perfect for the job. Don was the Tech Man for one year and early the next year Don called Jerry at the shop & wanted to talk to him. A few hours later Don showed up & with a big lump in his throat he said he didn't want to Tech anymore, he wanted to do something that he has been wanting to do since he was a kid, he wanted to be the Flag Man.Jerry told Don know problem , it's all yours. Sadly, Don passed away due to Diabetes complications & didn't get to drop the Green Flag that 2008 Season at the Springfield Raceway. So each & every year when time gets here to start the Racing Season Don's Family & his Children; Christopher, Taylor & Lyndsey from Heaven will climb drop the Green Flag in Honor of their DAD to start the first heat Race of the Season as we listen to the song Drift Away by Dobie Gray.
If you didn’t know Don take a little time… & remember someone you know of that has passed away way too soon ….

Springfield Raceway’s points will start in all 6 Classes this Saturday April 5 . Championship points will begin this Saturday.
In the month of April ALL Classes lineup will be OPEN DRAW for the heats & features lined up off of passing points. Beginning in June we will go to our Weekly Racing top 12 point average invert.
