Springfield,Mo.-Under near perfect weather conditions the SpringfieldRaceway crowned their 2010 season champions on Wheeler Metals Championship night with exciting racing action all night long.

The Budweiser A-Mods rolled out with current point leader Mitch Keeter and 4 time champion Jackie Dalton starting side by side as the 21 car field took the green.Keeter grabbed the early lead while Dalton, last weeks winner Erik Maggard,Jody Tillman and Brian green battling. All eyes were also on the mid and back pack as Scott Drake and Mr Excitment Terry Beckham were starting deeper in the field. The quic-Quarter was living to her nickname as Keeter was keeping his car in the middle to lower lane as Dalton and Maggard stayed side-by-side.Brian Green’s strong early run saw in slide sideways in turn 3 bringing out the yellow.Dalton picked the top lane on the double-file restart as Keeter a two-time winner this season was staying glued to the middle lane and kpt the top spot. After 3 laps of battling for second,Dalton moved to the extreme high groove and swung his car to the ragged edge as Maggard,Tillman,Drake who started 9th and Jerry Lankton battled while Beckham who started 16th was coming fast.Following a lap 7 cautin for rookie Corey Weir, the race was about to change as leader Keeter brought the field to the restart as Dalton picked the top groove on the restart. The battle was on as Keeter staying in the middle groove fought Dalton who swung wide on the top side.On lap 10,Dalton took the lead from Ketter while the pack behind the lead duo including Maggard,Drake,Tillman and Beckham went wheel to wheel.Dalton trying for his 5th consecutive championship was pulling away from Keeter as Keeter moved back upstairs to ride a solid second while Drake,Maggard, beckham,Tillman and others were swaping spots.Dalton would grab his 4th win of the season as Keeter,Beckham,Drake and Maggard completed the top 5 while a hard battle in the mid pack saw Tillman,John Yeoman,Bobby Pearish,19th place starter Jason Snodgrass and Lankton complete the top 10 as 16 cars finished on the lead lap.

Keeter,”The Silent Knight” took his championship victory lap and thanked all his sponsors, crew and family in taking his first ever championship.”For three seasons,I have been chasing that 21 car in the points.Last season it was going to be decided who finished ahead of who. This season even though we had the lead,it is never easy here at Springfield.A lot of good cars and a good track keeps you on the wheel. We did alot of prep time in the shop and learned alot these last 2 season. This new car really helped my program this season as he were able to make different adjustments on the car.”explained a very happy Keeter.

With the Reliable Chevrolet SportMod title up for grabs current point leader Sean Williams and points runner-up Wayne Graybeal brought the field to the green flag. With only 7 points between the top 2,it was to be decided in the 20 lap feature.Williams took the opening lead while Graybeal moved inside on the low side while GM Crate driver JC Morton stuck his nose among the drivers and made it three wide racing.Graybeal would take the lead on lap 2 as Williams riding the top groove and Morton in the middle were right in the hunt. The chase took a different tur on lap 3 as point leader Williams slowed off the pace in turn 4 and pulled high in turn 1 with a broken suspension parts bringing out the yellow. The point leader went to the pits and never returned. On the restart, graybeal stayed down low as Morton gave chase to the top spot.On lap 8.Morton made the high groove pass around Graybeal to take the lead while Graybeal,Larry Tindle,Gary Rodocker, along with bobby Maggard Jr all battling.Morton, the hottest driver since switching to his Crate Motor would pull away to secure the victory with Graybeal,Larry Tindle in his Crate Motor,Rodocker and Maggard completing the top 5 with a fast moving Deeny Felker,Don Luna,Andy Beauchamp,Wes Long and Dallas Scott completing the top 5.With Graybeal’s second place finish and Williams 15th place finish,Graybeal would claim the hard earned season long battle as points champion.

Wheeler Metals StreetStock action saw newly crowned point champion Jack Hamer and defending champion Robert High bring the field to the green flag.Robert who sold his car during the week, was driving Rex Freize’s car and grabbed the early lead with Hamer,Randy High who was going for three in a row,Bob Maggard Sr and Andrew Neil close behind.Robet High kept to the top groove as little brother Randy moved to the middle lane and began to apply more pressure as Hamer,Maggard Sr and Rusty Forrest moved into the mix.Despite several attempts to take the lead,it would be Robert High grabbing the win as brother Randy fell about 2 car lengths short.Jack Hamer,Maggard Sr and Forrest completed the top 5 while the top ten would be Jesse Parton,Nick Whitehead,Neil,Rick Williams and Jim Reid rounding out the field.Hamer would claim his first ever track championship as the Auto Repair Businessman from Ava was happy.

The PureStock division has been growing in car count and another new winner would see a driver come out of retirement to claim the win as Terry Beckham SR recovered from an early spin around and pulled off a dramatic closing lap win over the field.Early pace setters Chris Woodruff and Charles Woodruff set a fast pace as Beckham in the old Cloverleaf number 7 settled into third place.Beckham went from the high groove to the low groove and made contact with Austin Fletcher in turn 2 causing him to go around while Fletcher kept going. After the caution flew, the woodruff family again would battle up front.A caution on lap 5 for last weeks winner Joey Blackston would bunch the field-up again. On the restart,Beckham Sr moved around Jeremy Jones and set his sights on Fletcher.Up front the Woodruff father and son team were trying to settle the battle for the lead as Beckham Sr had moved to the low groove an was coming fast. With 1 lap to go,Both Woodruff’s made contact as Beckham shot to the low side and secured the win with Chris Woodruff,Jones,Fletcher and JF Gott completing the top 5.

The 3 wide action of the LegendCars would keep the fast pace as point leader Justin Comer and points runner-up Park Jones would bring the 16 car field to the green flag.Jstin comer took the opening lead with Jones, another point contender Rob Watson,Dave Comer and Dave Bauer following closely.Caution waved on lap 4 for Vance Jenkins as the field bunched again with Comer having to fight for his lead.Jones and Watson still in the championship chase were looking for a line around Comer as the field bunched tighter.Following a lap 8 aution, young lion driver Tyler Horton began his march forward and snuck into third on lap 10.With Comer fending Jones off for the lead,Horton getting geared-up for the Legend DirtCar Nations at Springfield in October was pressuring Jones for the second place spot as Dave Comer come into contention. On lap 15,Horton spun out of turn 2 bringing out the yellow. On the final restart,Jones tried go around Comer with Watson giving chase and a quiet moving Paul Horton moving up.With the final lap in,Justin Comer grabs the victory with Jones,Watson,P.Horton and D Comer the top 5 as Rodney Baird,Colt Pruente,Rick Nichols, early contender Bauer and Billy Cottrill the top 10.

Justin Comer was able to also walk away with his 1st ever track championship.

The Newly formed MidWest Modz have gained alot of speed and car counts this season with another night of tight racing action.Former Legends driver and young gun Kaleb Copher went into the night securing the 1st ever season title in this class and grabbed the early lead with bobby Gough giving early chase followed by JC Newell.Only 1 caution flew in the 15 lap feature when Shane Bias spun bunching the field-up.On the restart, second generation driver Trevor Drake who has captured a win this season moved into second place around Gough and gave chase while Gough,Newell,Lamar Newman and a fast moving James Redus battling.

With Copher in charge,Drake started to cut down on the lead, but Copher held on to claim the win with Drake,Gough,Newell and Newman following.Copher would also take the 1st ever championship in this ever growing class.

Next action at the SpringfieldRaceway will be on Sat Sept 18th as the Speedway will be holding the Larry Phillips Memorial featuring the Stars of the Traveling MARS and MLRA Super Latemodel Series as they battling for bragging rights.Action will also feature the Budweiser A-Mods,Reliable Chevorlet Sportmods,Wheeler Metals StreetStocks and LegendsCars as action will start at 7:15.

Springfield,Mo.-The chase for the championship at the SpringfieldRaceway will come to an end Sat Night as the point battles will be over for the 2010 season.Racing will feature the high-power of the Budweiser A-Mods,Reliable Chevrolet GM Performance SportMods,Wheeler Metals StreetStocks,LegendCars,MidWest Modz and the Purestocks.

Going into this weekends events current point leaders are Mitch Keeter(A-Mods),Sean Williams(SportMods),Jack Hamer(StreetStocks),Justin Copher(Legends),and Kaleb Copher(MidWest Modz). The PureStocks will be competing with last Sat Night having a season-high car count and exciting action.

Keeter is looking to take away the title from defending champion Jackie Dalton in the A-Mod class as many positions could change.Keeter could be known as the Silent Knight this season as that black 52 car has quietly been in the hunt all season long. This could be Keeter’s first ever title as he holds a 23 point margin over Dalton.Springfield’s Erik Maggard fresh off his win last Sat night is only 2 points behind Dalton and could sneak around the multi-time track champion to sneak into second place.

SportMod Competition has been close all season long as currently 3rd generation area driver Sean Williams takes a slim 6 point lead over Springfield veteran Wayne Graybeal into the final points night.Williams who started the season like wildfire found a mid-season drought place the consistant Graybeal into the hunt.Last Sat night, flat tires cost both drivers a chance to pull away as these two were like glue all night long.

Ava’s Jack Hamer will get his first ever StreetStock championship at SpringfieldRaceway as perfect attendance and constant heat race winss along with top 4 finishes has his familiar 714 on top of the standings.Defending champion Robert High sets in second while little Brother Randy High has won two feature wins in a row.

Justin Comer of Joplin holds the top spot in the Legends division while Joplin’s Park Jones has moved back into second place only 15 points out of the lead while Rob Watson sets in third.Watson’s chance fell to a skyrocket launch Sat night in turn 3 as the car vaulted into the air.Rob was able to walk away safely and is only 18 points out of the lead.Dave Comer and Tyler Horton round out the top 5 as young lion Horton is closer to his first feature win.

Kaleb Copher looks to be crowned the 1st ever MidWest Modz Champion as the former Legend Driver holds the lead over another young gun JC Newell of Stoutland who is only 14 years old.Copher plans to move up to the SportMods next season leaving the title wide open for next season in the popular growing class.Newell who won the feature last Sat night is hoping to go back to back and rumors say a new motor might be ready for Sat Night and the season ending specials.

Gates open at 5 with hotlaps at 6:15 and Racing at 7:15

In case of incliment weather the standings will be final as they currently stand.

Even though the points battle will be over,SpringfieldRaceway will still be Racing with Special events starting Sept 18th as the MARS and MLRA Super LateModels compete for the honor of the Larry Phillips Memorial along with A-Mods,SportMods,Legends and StreetStocks.

”The car has been very fast, but something just hasn’t been right.” as the second generation Springfield area driver has struggled here in the last few weeks. The team must have found the problem as he took the lead from Jon Yeoman on lap 7 of a very fast paced feature event to grab his second feature win of the season as the Maggard name would be called several times during the racing action.

the start of the A-Mod feature saw former area driver Jim Piercy Jr grab the opening lead over Darrell Jackson as Yeoman and Maggard settled-in.On lap 3,Yeoman took over the top spot while Maggard followed in tow as defending champion Jackie Dalton, previous winner Scotty Drake,Jerry Lankton and current point lead Mitch Keeter were following.Caution flew on lap 6 as rookie Corey Weir spun in turn 3 bunching up the field. On the restart,Maggard picked the high groove and made the winning pass around Yeoman while Yeoman settled into second place. As Maggard began to pull away,Yeoman would find Drake,Dalton,Jody Tillman along with Keeter and a quick moving bobby Pearish challanging.Lap 13 found to be unlucky on Dalton as his car stalled high in turn 4 bringing out the yellow and ending his chance to gain on Keeter in the standings. On the restart,Maggard again placed the car wherever he wanted as Yeoman had a handful of Drake trying to move around him with Keeter,Tillman and Pearish battling.Maggard went on to record the win and is getting geared-up for the special events upcoming at SpringfieldRaceway.Following Maggard across the line was Yeoman,Drake,Keeter and Pearish as Brian Green rallied late to finish 6th.

Reliable Chevorlet SportMod action would ring the Maggard name again as Bobby Maggard Jr took advantage of his front row starting spot to lead all 20 laps of the feature event claiming his second win of the season. The former area FactoryStock front runner in his first season of SportMod racing grabbed the opening lead from Andrew Smith and withstood some hard racing action behind him. While Maggard Jr was riding the middle lane all eyes were on the point contenders as point leader Sean Williams and Wayne Graybeal were together like glue all night long.Williams who started 8th and Graybeal 10th stayed close as by lap 7 both drivers were in the top 5.Drama set the stage by lap 11 as Denny Felker Jr brought out the yellow as Williams had a flat tire due to contact up in the front pack.During the caution Williams changed the tire and rejoined the field in 15th while Graybeal was running third.Graybeal then shot to the pits before the restart with a flat left front tire and rejoined before the start right behind Williams.Up front Maggard Jr. was all alone as veteran Rob Muilenburg had moved into second place with Larry Tindle right behind him.Maggard would cross the stripe with the victory while Tindle grabbed second as Muilenburg,Andrew Smith and Chris Morelock rounded the top 5.Later in tech,Muilenburg(Carb) and Smith(Intake) were DQ’ed changing the final order to Maggard,Tindle,Morelock,Willie Wilson and Gary Rodocker.

Wheeler StreetStock action wouldn’t see the Maggard theme continue but was a big part of the action.Josh Rupp and Mark Asbell brought the field to the green flag as previous weeks winner Randy High and Nick Whitehead along with Bob Maggard Sr were starting towards the rear along with defending champion Robert High.Randy High shot to the extreme top groove and drove right around the field as all battled.Current point leader Jack Hamer settled in behind High as Maggard followed closely.Maggard had moved into second place when the caution waved on lap 2.On the double-file restart,Maggard picked the low groove as Hamer went upstairs.Randy high quickly brought the field down as Maggard Sr pulled even with the leader. For the next 8 laps,it was Maggard and High dead even though the entire track while behind the leaders was the battle for third involving Robert High,Nick Whitehead,Hamer and Jesse Parton. On lap 12,High was finally able to shake the veteran racer away for just a lap and get a 2 car length lead.Heading for the last lap,Maggard went from the top groove to the lower lane and made another charge on High falling only about 1 car length short as Randy High took his second win with Maggard Sr,Robert High,Whitehead and Hamer completing the top 5.

MidWest Modz feature action saw Shawn Hatcher and Shane Bias bring the field to the green flag with Hatcher grabbing the early lead.Points runner-up JC Newell wasted no time in grabbing the top spot as the field crossed the stripe on lap 1 as Lamar Newman followed closely. With Newell seting a quick-pace,Newman was having a strong run close behind as Bobby Gough was coming from the 5th row and point leader Kaleb Copher was being patient in mid-pack.On lap 6,caution waved for Shane Bias as Gough and Newman double-filed behind the leader Newell on the restart.Copher then began his charge to the top 5 as Newell set a quick-pace again.Gough tried several attempts to get around Newell but little JC held firm.Copher was invloved in contact while battling for posistion and did a complete 360 spin in turn 2 keeping the race green.Newell went on the grab the win with Gough,Trevor Drake,Newman and point leader Copher completing the top 5.

Legends Car point leader Justin Comer overcame a bad qualifying effort, but saw the Pepsi redraw work to his advantage taking the opening lead from newcomer Gary Hinton as Dave Comer tucked-in behind him.Dave Comer had tried several times to overtake the leader as the mid-pack was tight with 3 wide action.Lap 9 will prove to be a turning point in the chase for the championship as points runner-up Rob Watson who was going forward in the standing started to backpetal, then got caught up in some action ended up flipping his car as it went well up in the air in turn 3.The race was red-flagged as safety crews went to retrieve the hard charger.Watson was able to walk away from the massive crash unhurt as the race resumed.Justin Comer then held off several charges from Dave Comer in taking the victory with Dave Comer,Park Jones,Tyler Horton and father Paul Horton following closely.

The Purestock feature saw 10 entries take the green flag twice as joey Blackstone took advantage of his front row pole spot and then hold off a late race charge by Jeremy Jones in taking his first win of the season.Following Blackstone and Jones to the line in the wild 12 lap feature were Joey Long,JF Gott and Chris Woodruff.

Up next at the SpringfieldRaceway will be the Wheeler Metals Season Championships for all 6 classes with the Buweiser A-Mods,Reliable Chevrolet SportMods,Wheeler Metals StreetStocks,LegendsCars,MidWest Modz and PureStocks. In the event of bad weather the standings will be final as they currently stand.

Springfield,Mo.-The SpringfieldRaceway hosted the Race Bros Farm & Home Supply Show-Me Racin Series LateModels Sat Night and it was the teacher taking the pupli to school as National Dirt Hall of Famer Ken “The Flying Farmer” Essary was able to put a halt to the Justin Wells Express 2010 season with a near perfect drive on the Quick-Quarter in capturing the LateModel A feature.

Essary, the series founder while in the early years was teaching Wells about the LateModel Racing world, hasn’t tought Wells everything he knows about the SpringfieldRaceway as Essary held off repeated challanges from Randy Zimmerman and then a late race surge from the point leader Wells in taking his first win of the 2010 seson.

After the top 8 redrew,Zimmerman and Essary brought the 22 car field down to the green flag as Essary jumped to the top cushion quickly while Zimmerman stayed to his inside.Caution flew quickly as Wells who was starting 6th spun in turn 2 as others stopped to avoid contact.Under Series rules if more than 1 car stops on the start, then all go back to an original restart.Again Essary and Zimmerman went side by side went Essary going to the extreme top of the quarter mile clay oval.Going into the turns,Zimmerman would would pull even as the veterans battled.Larry Campbell and Wells were hooked-up in a tight battle for third place.Caution flew on lap 8 as Don Cloyd spun bunching the field up as Essary lead the double-file restart with Zimmerman staying close as Campbell,Wells,Dustin Mooneyham,Brandon McCormick and Jarrod Hilton all fought for position as 2-3 wide racing was the norm.During the long green run,Essary began to pull away to a 4 car length lead as Zimmerman the series points runner-up would find point leader Wells starting to mount a charge.Heading into lapped traffic,Essary was moving both high and low as Wells who had gotten by Campbell was pulling even with Zimmerman. On lap 19,Wells made the pass on the low side and began to run down the leader Essary. With only 3 laps to go,Wells using the middle and low grooves pulled to within 2 cars of Essary as the race was on.Lapped traffic held strong as essary was using every bit of the smooth quick surface to hold off Wells. As the white flag flew,Wells was riding smoothly on the bottom and pulled to Essary’s rear quarter panel, but the Springfield Turkey Classic winner hadn’t showed his full hand yet as Essary drifted alittle high off the turns and moved through the middle of the track to grab his first win of the season with wells a clsoe second as Zimmerman,Campbell and Humbolt winner Dustin Mooneyham rounding out the top 5.

The Budweiser A-Mods found a brand new winner crossing the winners circle in his first race at SpringfieldRaceway as veteran Terry Beckham II made a last minute decision to make the trip to the Quick-Quarter over going to Muskogee,Oklahoma.Beckham’s father used to master the smaller tracks, but Beckham II likes the bigger sweeping speed tracks.

After earning the pole spot,Beckham grabbed the opening lap lead over outside pole setter JimBody with Scott Drake,Erik Maggard and Darrell Jackson following. All eyes were on the back part of the field as current point leader Mitch Keeter,4 time champion Jackie Dalton,Jody Tillman and late arriving Jesse Stovall were coming from the back part of the 17 car field. On lap 2,Drake shot to the middle of the track taking the lead from Missouri’s Mr Excitement of Modified racing Beckham.Caution flew as Jackson and front running Darrell McWhirter spun in turn 4 bunching the field up.On the restart,Beckham went back to the front as Jerry Lankton was making his pressence known by moving into third spot.Beckham known for riding the top side was working downstairs as Drake was moving to different spots.Beckham and Drake the two veterans were battling hard as Lankton was a solid third with Body and a fast moving Jody Tillman in the top 5.On lap 11,point leader Mitch Keeter had moved into the top 5 as Beckham and Drake still battled.A late caution bunched the field one last time as Drake picked the high lane on the restart with Lankton going down low.Beckham got a good jump as Drake was swinging to the top groove as Beckham could go anywhere.Lankton made a small bobble as Tillman ans Keeter both came flying through the pack.Beckham grabbed the win followed by Drake,Tillman,Keeter and a good solid run by Lankton as 12 of the 17 starters finished on the lead lap.

The Only Non-new winner would come in the Reliable Chevrolet SportMods as a 23 car field checked into the pits with 22 taking the opening Green.Points runner-up Wayne Graybeal grabbed the opening lead while Springfield’s GM Crate motor racer JC Morton followed closely while Jerry Lankton,Gary Rodocker and point leader Sean Williams followed. With 2-3 wide racing the norm,Morton shot to the top side and moved around Graybeal to take the lead as Sean Williams had moved into third place. The first of only 2 yellow flew on lap 8 as Terry Williams and Jon Yeoman Jr got together in turn 4.With morton leading and Graybeal running second,Graybeal picked the bottom groove as Williams moved along to the top side.On the restart,Williams stayed top side as he and Graybeal ran side by side with Williams moving into second place on lap 10 and giving chase to the leader Morton. On lap 13 the final yellow waved as Ryan Stacye,Ron McClellan and Andy Beauchamp got together in turn 1.On the restart,Morton moved to the middle lane as Williams shot down low as Graybeal was close behind.Williams tried several attempts around Morton, but the night was to belong to Morton with williams,Graybeal,Gary Rodocker and Mike Hailman completing the top 5 as 16 of the 22 starters finished on the lead lap.

A new winner of 2010 in the LegendCars happened as 2009 track champion Jason Rayle made his first start of the season but the field didn’t make it easy on him.Ralye earned the pole spot with with Dave Comer along side of him.Rayle took the opening lead with point leader Justin comer following closely behind.Caution waved on lap 1 as point contender Park Jones went flying off the end of turn 4.On the restart Rayle leads with Justin comer right behind him and young gun Tyler Horton following closely.Dave Comer made the move into second on lap 4 and gave Rayle lots of pressure.Rayle in his first race of the season looked like he never lost a thing as he held off repeated challanges from Dave Comer,Tyler Horton and Justin Comer to capture a hard earned victory as he and others are preparing for the Big October Legend Nationals at SpringfieldRaceway.

The MidWest Modz also saw a new winner as a bounty had been placed on point leader Kaleb Copher if he could be beat.Copher suffered major damage in his qualifying heat race but made repairs for the feature as he and JC Newell are in a tight point battle.Trevor Drake and Newell brought the field to the opening green as Drake quickly checked out from the field while Newell and Jeremy Manes battled for second place.During the long green run, point leader Copher was trying to move up and the longer the race went green the faster he got. With Drake setting a quick pace and pulling away it looked as if another new winner was ready to be crowned.Caution waved on lap 11 as Bobby Gough spun bunching the field-up.Drake got a strong restart as Manes and Copher went side by side as Gary Krebs and Lamar Newman had a good race going.Drake would cature the victory as Copher ended up officially finishing second with Krebs,Newman and David Lynch following.Points contender JC Newell had a slow leaking tire on the last restart while running third and sent him backwards.

Action continues Sat Aug 28th with the Chase for the Championship with the Budweiser A-Mods,Reliable Chevrolet SportMods,Wheeler Metals StreetStocks,Legends,MidWest Modz and PureStocks.

Gates open at 5PM with hotlaps at 6:15 and Racing at 7:15 sharp.

Springfield,Mo.-Veteran modified driver Scotty Drake made his second apperance of the season to the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway Sat night and served notice to the A-Mods that he is ready to make a run at some of the Fall Money shows throughout the area as he took control of the Modified feature early and withstood several late race challanges in the Kids back to school special.

The high-power of the Budweiser Modifieds took to the track with John Yeoman and Jerry Lankton bringing the field to the green flag.Yeoman and current point leader Mitch Keeter went wheel to wheel as Drake patiently waited. With side by side action throughout the field,Drake made a pass to take over the lead on lap 6 as Keeter followed closely.Back in the field 4 time champion Jackie Dalton was slowly moving from his 11th starting spot while Brian Green who had issues in the heat race was charging fast.Up front Drake moved to the top groove of the racetrack on the edge as Keeter stayed in the middle to lower grooves.Jody Tillman had quietly moved into third place and began a move on the lead duo.A couple of cautions had flown for single car spins and on the double-file restarts,Keeter would choose the bottom groove eveytime.Another driver on the move was Bobby Pearish after starting 10th in the field he had quietly moved forward also.On the restarts,Keeter would move downstairs as Drake kept the car to the top of the track.Brian Green’s fast forward movement ended with a flat tire and 2 laps later problems sidelined him for the night.A late race caution set-up a final shootout as Jackie Dalton and Erik Maggard were battling for a top 5 run.On the restart,Keeter picked the low groove as Tillman moved upstairs.Drake brought the field easy into turn 3 and then began to pick up the throttle in turn 4 as the green waved and Drake was holding the middle lane as Tillman stayed on the top lane.As the white flag flew,Drake held a 3 car length advantage over Keeter, but Tillman was charging quickly to move around Keeter.Drake would claim the win with Tillman nipping Keeter for second as Keeter,Dalton and Maggard completed the top 5.

”The car felt good all night long,”Quoted Drake. My car owner from Kansas came tonight and I couldn’t be happier to get the win. This is the toughest A-Mod feature weekly in the state.Keeter kept me up on the wheel because one bobble and he was gone.Tillman was really fast later and I didn’t know he was that close because Keeter kept trying down low. With Money events just around the corner, maybe we are getting things lined-out.Last week was my first event here this season and we changed some things at the shop.

In SportMod action Andy Beauchamp and Billy Dalton brought the field to the green flag with Beauchamp grabbing the early lead as 3 wide action highlighted everyone back in the pack.JC Morton wasted no time in running down the leader Beauchamp and checked out from the pack leaving the field to battle for the runner-up honors. The 20 lap feature went Green,White,Checkered as Morton in his 602 GM Performance Crate Motor grabbed his first Springfield win of the 2010 season.Last weeks Reliable Chevorlet SportMod Special event winner Jon Yeoman Jr was able to gather the runner-up spot in another good run for his team as current point leader Sean Williams charged from 11th to finish in third place with early leader Beauchamp and veteran Larry Tindle completing the top 5 as 14 cars finished on the lead lap in the side by side as side by side racing was the norm all night.

A new winner crossed the finish line first in the Wheeler Metals StreetStock divison as the feature wasn’t decided unti lthe last lap and final turn as Randy High took his first ever feature win.Action started as Rusty Forrest and bob Maggard Sr brought the field to the green flag.Forrest grabbed the early lead.On lap 3,Randy high moved to the top spot as Maggard Sr was close behind as Forrest fell to third. On lap 9,Maggard went around Randy High to take the lead as High kept within 1 car length the entire race.As the leader ran clsoe up front Jesse Parton had quietly moved into third place and was gaining ground while point leader Jack Hamer and defending champion Robert High were battling.Coming for the final lap,Randy High got a strong run on the veteran Maggard and made a pass to the insdie line going into turn 3 as the leaders went side by side with High getting the run on the bottom of the track coming out of turn 4 to get his first win of the season with Maggard Sr, Jesse Parton,Jack Hamer and Robert High completing the top 5.

Legend Car action saw a last lap pass for the win as many different leaders took their turn up front. The Legend Nations will be held at SpringfieldRaceway in October and this was a National qualifying event for all the different classes involved along with track points.

On the start,Colt Pruente and Rob Watson brought the field to the green with Watson grabbing the opening lead as young Preunte followed closely. On lap 3 while bidding for the lead Preunte got sideways in turn 4 bringing out the caution flag and ending his early strong run.On the restart,Watson who was third in track points going into the evening found Chuck Comer applying pressure as current point leader Justin comer was right behind them.On lap 5,Justin comer took the lead as Chuck Comer grabbed it on the next lap while young lion driver Tyler horton was making his pressence known. On lap 8 contact in the pack took out front runner Dave comer as his night ended on the hook.On the restart Watson made a bold 3 wide move to take the lead over Chuck Comer as Comer took it back the next lap.At the halfway point on lap 10,Justin Comer went back to the lead with Tyler Horton,Chuck Comer,Watson and a fast moving Jay Reynolds in the top 5.On lap 13,Watson went from fourth to second and was applying pressure to Justin Comer.A late race caution set-up a fantastic finish as Watson picked the low groove on the restart as the field took the final green.Watson waited until the final lap in turn 3 and made the wining pass over Justin comer to take the win with Justin Comer,Chuck Comer,Tyler horton and last weeks winner Park Jones completing the top 5.Throphy qualifying winners were Justin Comer(Pro class),Rob Watson(Master),Rodney Baird(Semi-Pro) and Tyler Horton(Young Lion).

The MidWest modz feature went 15 laps caution free as Lamar Newman grabbed the early lead with points runner-up JC Newell right beside him and Bobby Gough following. With Newman holding a fast line around and Newell trying to get around him, point leader Kaleb Copher who started 9th quietly made his run to the front and by lap 4 moved into third place while running the very top groove. With Newman having a strong run,Copher went to the top groove and began his charge on the leaders. On lap 6,Copher moved around Newell as the trio went 3 wide into turn 2 and Copher moved around Newman on the following lap to take the lead and the victory as Newell and Newman kept their battle going on until lap 10 when Newell made the pass to secure the runner-up spot with Newman,Bobby Gough and Trevor Drake following.

Doug Testerman grabbed the lead on the opening lap of the PureStock feature and never looked back in capturing the win as JF gott and Tyler Ruggles followed.

Up next the the SpringfieldRaceway Aug 21st Race Bros Farm And Home Supply will sponsor the event featuring the Show-Me Racin Series LateModels in their only apperance of the season.Current Series Point leader Justin Wells of Aurora will lead an action-packed field of LateModel drivers into the Quick-Quarter including National Dirt Hall Of Famer and Turkey classic Winner Ken “The Flying Farmer” Essary,Kansas standout Randy Zimmerman,Joplin’s Chuck Comer,Springfield’s Chris Morelock,Area favortires Darrell and Dustin Mooneyham,Arkansas Young Gun Larry Campbell and many more along with points action in the Budweiser A-Mods,Reliable Chevrolet SportMods,MidWest Modz and Legends.

Dustin Barks snared his first career American Sprint Car Series feature win by racing to victory lane in Saturday night’s 25-lap American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region main event at Springfield Raceway. The Farmington, MO, shoe did it in impressive style as well, driving past three former ASCS Sooner Region champions over the final half of the race to take top honors in the inaugural edition of the track’s Ozark Empire Nationals.

While Barks started fifth, front row outside starter Sean McClelland outgunned pole starter Joe Wood, Jr., and paced the early rounds ahead of Wood and Andy Shouse on the top side of the ¼-mile clay oval.

With the top three using the top portion of the racetrack, fourth-running Barks began working the low line and was closing in when the race’s only caution flew after ten circuits when Gavin Punch spun to a stop in turn two.

With McClelland continuing to lead the way on the restart, Shouse slid past Wood for second with Barks making his move to the front by disposing of both Wood (the defending series champion) and then Shouse (the 2004 Sooner co-champion) for second by the 15th round.

Barks reeled in McClelland and squeezed underneath exiting turn four on the 20th round to take command. McClelland contested the lead over the next two laps before slowing as his mount began to overheat.

Barks raced on to his first ASCS checkered flag, commenting that, “We had it working good on the bottom, I was just hoping none of those other guys would move down there before I got to ‘em.”

Shouse took the runner-up position in the final rounds, with McClelland holding on to the show position in front of Wood and 12th-starter Nick Smith.

Making his first Sprint Car start in more than a year, Toby Brown posted a solid sixth-place run carrying the No. 29 on his wing in tribute to Travis Rilat, who continues to recover in a Seattle hospital from burns.

Brian McClelland climbed from 14th to seventh, with J. Kinder, Tyler Blank and Kenneth Walker completing the top ten.

Barks, Kyle Bellm and Wood topped heat race action for the event co-sanctioned with the Winged Outlaw Warriors.

In support action the Budweisre A-Mods started off the nights features with high flying high spped action as current point leader Mitch Keeter and Erik Maggard brought the field down to the green flag.Maggard grabbed the opening lead going to the top side with Keeter,4 time track champion Jackie Dalton and second generation driver Colson Kirk following closely. On lap 4,Keeter took advantage of Maggard’s small bobble on the backstretch to take the lead as Dalton followed also while Jody Tillman was coming quickly. With the lead trio of Keeter,Dalton and Maggard going three wide ,Tillman and Brian Green began a charge to the front.Keeter was keeping on the top groove while Dalton drove it deep into turn 4.Caution waved on lap 5 for rookie Corey Weir as the field bunched up on the double-file restart.Dalton picked the top groove for his restart position with Maggard going to his inside. On the restart,Keeter wasted no time in moving his car to the top lane while Dalton was swinging very wide as the veteran Maggard kept his car glued down low.On lap 11,Keeter jumped the top cushion in turn 4 as Dalton rocketed from the top lane to the middle to take command as Maggard was moving fast down low.Behind the lead trio,Jody Tillman,Brian Green and a fast moving Lyle Dietrich along with Kirk and Jerry Lankton were battling. On lap 12 the final caution waved as Tammy Mitchell’s car came to a stop in turn 4.Dalton brought the field to the final restart as Keeter and Maggard went to battle side by side as Dalton would go on to record his second win of the season while Keeter,Maggard,Tillman and a quick moving Dietrich followed.

Sportmod competition saw points runner-up Sean Williams and GM 602 Crate driver Billy Dalton bring the talented field to the green flag with Williams wasting no time jumping to the lead as Gary Rodocker,Dalton and Crate motor driver JC Morton following.Williams had checked away from the field leaving a nip and tuck battle for second between Rodocker and morton while Bobby Maggard Jr. was moving fast from his 9th starting spot. With Williams in control,Rodocker and Morton went side by side as Maggard and Dalton batled with Eric Tinderholt.Caution waved on lap 11 for Tinderholt as he came to a halt on the backstretch.SpringfieldRaceway point leader Wayne Graybeal ducked into the pits to change a tire during the caution while Both Tinderholt and Graybeal restarted at the rear.On the restart,Williams pulled away while Rodocker made the move around Morton to grab second place while 14th starter Roy Maynard was coming quickly through the field and into the top 5.Up front Williams was trying to keep distance between himself and the field as Rodocker,Morton,Maynard,Dalton,Maggard Jr and a hard chaarging Graybeal were battling.Williams went on to grab the win with Rodocker getting his best finish of the season while Morton,Dalton and Maynard completed the top 5 as Graybeal charged back to finish 7th.Morton grabbed the top Reliable Chevrolet GM Performance honors gathering an extra $150 for the top Crate motor while Dalton and Maynard also gathered in extra money.

Springfield,Mo.-Current Budweiser A-Mod point leader Mitch Keeter found himself in the right place at the right time for him,but not for Bobby Pearish as Keeter took over the lead on lap 16 and held on to capture his second feature win of the season as the Quick-Quarter of the SpringfieldRaceway despite severe rain stroms moving in the area.

The filed took the green with Pearish earning the lead at the drop of the feature over Denny DeMasters Jr while Jody Tillman followed through.Pearish started to check out from the field whileKeeter, opening night winner Erik Maggard, and Jerry Lankton were battling hard for third place. While Pearish was smooth through the middle of the turns,Tillman hooked-up on the high-side and started his march to the front. With a long green flag run and action all over the track,Pearish was pulling away while Keeter made the low pass move around Tillman on lap 8 to grab second place with Tillman,DeMasters,Maggard and 4 time track champion Jackie Dalton batling.Dalton who had started 11th on the field was moving both high and low.

As the leaders started going through lapped traffic on lap 10,Pearish’s lead started getting smaller as Keeter was on the march forward while Tillman,Maggard,DeMastera nad Dalton along with Jerry Lankton were having a great race.Pearish kept a solid pace through the center of the track as Keeter closed-up to half a straight away lead.On lap 16,while going through traffic, a car spun in turn 3 and went down right in front of the leader Pearish collecting him and ending his run for the victory.Keeter took over the top spot after the only caution of the feature while Jody Tillman choose the top groove on the double-file restart and Maggard running third move to the low groove.Keeter got the jump on the start and moved to the top groove as Tillman and Maggard were side by side with Dalton and Veteran Terry Kirk swapping spots. On lap 19,Maggard moved around Tillman on the low side but Tillman came back on the top groove in the race for second place.Keeter took the victory and added to his point lead over dalton as Maggard recorded a narrow runner-up spot with Tillman,Dalton and Terry Kirk. The second 5 were Jerry Lankton,Lady driver Tammy Mitchell,Brian Green who started 15 after borrowing Kyle Slagle’s car,Tim simon and Danny DeMasters Jr all on the lead lap.

Reliable Chevrolet GM Performance SportMod Competition saw Springfield’s Wes Long and Bobby Maggard Jr. occupy the front row with Long leading the opening lap with point leader Wayne Graybeal,Eric Tinderholt and early season point leader Sean Williams following.Long pulled away running through the center of the track while Williams found the very top lane to run quickly.Maggard,Graybeal and JC Morton were swapping spots as Tinderholt started to slow off the pace.Maggard Jr pulled to the pits on lap 8 ending his night as Sean Williams had made the top groove move around Long to grab the lead while morton and Graybeal battled side by side. The first caution waved on lap 10 for Blake Ellis along with previous winner john Yeoman Jr and Gary Rodocker as they spun in turn 2.On the restart,Williams pulled away as Crate Motor driver Billy Dalton took advantage of his high lane spot and rocketed to move into fourth place as morton gave chase along with Graybeal. With Williams starting to check out,Long seemed secure for the runner-up spot while a great race for third involving Morton,Dalton,Mike Hailman and Larry tindle as Graybeal’s car seemed to not turn through the corners.Williams rode the top groove to victory ending his month long bad luck drought as Long,Dalton,Morton and Mike Hailman completed the top 5 with Graybeal,Gary Rodocker,Yeoman Jr,Tindle and Nathan Cottrell completing the top 10.Dalton took home and extra $150 for being the top crate Motor finisher while Morton grabbed an extra $100 and Tindle $50.

The Wheeler Metals StreetStocks were a little short of cars, but not of racing action tonight as the invert place heat race winner Bob Maggard Sr and point leader Jack Hamer in the final row at the start.Matt Keeth grabbed the opening lead over Kourtney Stevens while Randy High followed closely and took over the lead on lap 2 with Hamer following. With Randy High riding the middle groove,Veteran Bobby Maggard sr and Hamer were side by side and closing quickly.Maggard made a nice move in turn 2 on lap 7 to grab the lead while High came right back along with hamer.Anrew Neil started closing in quickly while these 3 battle.Maggard took back the lead on lap 9 and held off both High and Hamer to secure his first win of the season in the class.High,Hamer,Neil,Keeth and Stevens completed the field.

The Newly formed MidWest Modz saw 11 cars take the green flag with Rich Reynolds and Tyler Chainey on the front row and go door to door.Contact involving several cars sent Chainey spinning along with JC Newell and Rusty Adams and brought out the yellow. On the restart,Reynolds fell by the wayside as Bobby Gough took the opening lead as point leader Kaleb Copher came charging from the back of the field to grab second place with Reynolds and Trever Drake following closely.Copher tried several attempts to get the lead from Gough but Gough held off the challanges.Drake and Gary Krebs followed closely along with Lamar Newman but Drake’s night ended with problems. On lap 5 of the 15 lap event,Copher finally made the pass stick on the highside of Gough to take the lead as Krebs stayed close as Shawn Hatcher and Newman battled. In the closing laps,Copher pulled away to grab the victory with Gough,Krebs,Newman and points runner-up JC Newell rounding out the top 5.Post race tech found problems with Krebs and Newman changing the top 5 to Copher,Gough,Newell,Hatcher and Rusty Adams.

The LegendCars again provided three-wide race as Rodney Baird and Rob Watson brought the field to the Green with Watson taking the early lead as Dave Bauer and Chuck Comer followed. With Watson setting a quick pace, point leader Justin Comer made a move into the top 3 and began is charge to the front as Park Jones,Paul Horton,Baird and a fast moving Tyler Horton were swapping back and forth.A late race caution closed-up the field even more as Justin comer was able to get around Watson on lap 12 and hold off repeated challanges by Bauer to secure the win followed by Tyler Horton, early leader Watson, and Park Jones.10 of the 13 starters completed all 20 laps and only previous winner Dave Comer did not start the feature.

Chris Woodruff took the opening lead in the PureStock class and never looked back in grabbing his first win of the season over Tyler Ruggles and Joey blackstone

Springfield,Mo.With over 70 race teams in the pits and beautiful weather, the racing action was quick and close Sat night at the SpringfieldRaceway as 1st time 2010 winners were the trend for the evening while Yeoman Racing Engines were sweeping the winners circle.

In the Budweiser A-Mod feature a strong field of 16 took the green flag with current point leader Mitch Keeter grabbing the early lead from his pole spot while West Plains hard charger Josh Hughes following close behind. As the pack were going three wide veteran Rob Muilenburg’s car touched wheels with another as the car went airborne and down with Daniel Franklin touching as the car went down. Both drivers got to the pits safely as the action stayed green.Keeter was holding a 2 car length lead over Hughes while Nathan Mayes,Dalton ,Jody Tillman and Jason Hughes were battling. With a fast pace and Keeter leading, defending champion Dalton moved into second place on lap 6 and began his march to the front. The caution waved on lap 9 as Rocky Breliew spun in turn 3 bunching the field up.On the double file restart,Dalton picked the high groove as Keeter brought the field to green again.Keeter went downstairs as dalton used the top groove as the duo went side by side for the next 4 laps before Dalton was able to grab the lead.Behind the lead duo,Jody Tillman was using the top side and coming fast along with Mayes, the hughes brothers and opening night winner Erik Maggard.Caution waved on lap 16 as Tillman and Josh Hughes made contact in turn 4 ending both their strong runs.On the restart,Keeter picked the low groove s Dalton brought the field to grren again.Mayes and Maggard were battling as Maggard moved to the top side and was coming quickly while Dalton moved to a 4 car length lead over Keeter.Heading to the checkered flag,Dalton grabbed his first win of the season at Springfield while Maggard nipped Keeter at the line for second place with Keeter,Mayes in his first start at Springfield and Jason Hughes completing the top 5 as 12 of the 16 starteres finished on the lead lap.

The Reliable Chevrolet GM Performance SportMod feature saw a wild event from the start. As the field took the green flag with Don Luna and Brad Moad setting the front row, points runner-up Sean Williams lost a driveshaft on the backstretch and slowed to the infield.Point leader Wayne Graybeal and springfield’s Wes Long got together in turn 3 bringing out a red flag as Graybeal was out for the night and Long to the pits for repairs. On the restart,Luna jumped to the early lead with Brad moad,Gary Rodocker and Jon Yeoman Jr following closely as Long pulled out to join the field.Up front racing was tight as Luna and moad battled for the lead. The yellow waved on lap 4 as last weeks winner Eric Tinderholt bunching the field up even more.On the restart,Luna found Jon Yeoman Jr on his bumper as the duo battled. On lap 10,Yeoman took over the lead as Luna stayed along side of his car while Long was in the mix of the pack trying to get back on the lead lap.Yeoman and Luna stayed side by side for the next 10 laps as even as possible with Yeoman just ahead at the line. When the checkered flew,Yeoman took his first win of the season with Luna,Moad,Larry tindle and Billy Dalton taking the top 5.Tindle would be the top 602 GM Crate finisher taking home an extra $150 to his earnings while Dalton grabbed $100 extra and JC Morton an extra $50 as each point show $300 extra is divided up by the top Crate Motors from GM Performance and Reliable Chevrolet. The win was Yeoman’s first of the season with Luna showing his best performance of the season also along with moad.

The Wheeler Metals StreetStocks was plenty of action as Ozark’s Nick Whitehead took advantage of his front row starting spot and held off repeated challanges from veteran Bob Maggard Sr and defending champion Robert High in taking his first win of the 2010 season at SpringfieldRaceway. The feature saw Maggard in his historic 64 Chevy try several times to get around Whtehead,But Whitehead battled the challanges along with a last lap shootout from Robert High.Point lead Jack Hamer and Randy High battled all night long for the 4th place spot along with Rex Sawyer before finishing the feature in that order.

The MidWest Modz feature class has grown in both car count and talent as the field took the green with second generation driver Trevor Drake and Springfield’s Tyler Chainey setting the pace.Drake would grab the opening lead with points runner-up 14 year old JC Newell,Chainey and Bobby gough following.Drake was staying on the top side while Newell was using the lower line around the excellent racing surface.Current point leader and last weeks winner Kaleb Copher who started 11th was trying to work the traffic up through the pack.Drake looking for his first ever feature win looked to have it in his sight until lap 8 when Copher worked his way up to the second place spot and charging.Caution waved on lap 10 as gough spun in turn 4.On the restart,Copher went to the low side as the duo battled side by side while Newell was staying close. On lap 12,Copher made the winning pass to record the victory as Drake,Newell,Veteran Earl Muilenburg and a fast moving Shawn Hatcher completed the top 5 as all of the field finished on the lead lap.

Legends feature action again saw 3 wide racing as Dave Bauer grabbed the opening lead from Paul Horton while Dave Comer was coming quickly from his 5th starting spot. With Bauer setting a fast pace,Dave Comer stayed close while Rob Watson,Horton and Park Jones battled close. On lap 7,Comer made a bold move to the outside to grab the lead with Bauer close behind.Point leader and last weeks winner Justin Comer was moving quietly from the 11th starting spot as the field was 3 wide for position. The caution flew on lap 11 bunching the field-up with comer setting the pace.On the restart,Park Jones and Watson battled wheel to wheel as the Red flag was displayed for Bill Cottrill.Cotrrill’s car had gotten in the air and came down hard.He was alright but transported to the hospital for observations.O the restart,Comer would pull away in taking his first win of the season with Bauer, point leader Justin Comer,Watson and Jones completing the top 5.

Purestock action saw Robert High take the lead on lap 2 over newcomer Megan Graber and grab his first PureStock win of the season.High would give the trophy to the lady driver while Chris Woodruff finished third.
